Tamantha Lowrie

Can you share a little about your Nursing background and the path that brought you here?

I have been working as a Registered Nurse in General Practice since 2018. I discovered my passion for Primary Healthcare during a student placement and haven’t looked back! I’ve gained experience across all areas of General Practice and also spent three years working specifically in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healthcare. I’ve always been passionate about supporting people with their health, and I feel that General Practice allows me to build long-term relationships with patients while making a meaningful difference in their overall wellbeing.

 What part of General Practice Nursing lights you up the most, and why?
Adult and Childhood immunisations. The part that would light me up the most is being able to build rapport with families when it comes to childhood immunisations. Meeting a baby for the first time and following them for their whole immunisation journey is extremely fulfilling all while getting to implement my knowledge about Vaccine Preventable Diseases.

What’s a moment in your day that never fails to make you smile (big or small)?
Blowing bubbles for children after their immunisations… there’s almost always a guaranteed smile!

 What do you love most about working at One Health Clinics?
I absolutely love being part of One Health Clinics. I feel so fortunate to work alongside an amazing team. I really value the trust and autonomy the Nursing team is given to enhance patient care. When we have an idea that could benefit patients, there’s nothing standing in our way, which makes working here incredibly empowering.

 What’s something fun about you outside the clinic—any hobbies, quirks, or hidden talents?
Outside of work, I love spending time on the Sunshine Coast with my partner and our two beautiful (but incredibly naughty) Cocker Spaniels. I’m also a big animal lover, so I enjoy being outdoors, soaking up nature, and spotting wildlife whenever I can. And full disclosure, Taylor Swift is a big hobby of mine… if you know, you know!
